Kazakhstan humble Singapore 4-0

New Delhi, 08 March 2015: Post their first match loss yesterday, both Kazakhstan and Singapore were looking at opening their winning account at the Hero FIH Hockey World League Round 2 (Women). It was Kazakhstan who kept the pressure on the opponents in the entire game and won the match 4-0.

Going into the attack, Kazakhstan had no problem in beating the defence of Singapore to enter the D making their intentions clear of putting pressure on the opponents from the word go. Their efforts bore results in the second minute into the game when a pass to Vera Domashneva at the D was gently deflected into the nets, scoring the first goal for her team. While Kazakhstan dominated the rest of the session by continuing to put pressure on Singapore, they were unable to convert the opportunities resulting in the quarter ending 1-0 with the former leading.

Not wanting to give away the lead in the game, Kazakhstan in the second quarter gave a tough time to Singapore as they kept them at bay. Kazakhstan doubled its lead in the 28th minute with Olga Khonina’s pass to Vera Domashneva who slammed the ball into the goal, scoring for the second consecutive time for her team and added the second goal to her personal tally too. At the end of first half Kazakhstan was leading 2-0.

The third quarter was no different as Kazakhstan scored their third field goal coming from the stick of the captain Natalya Gataulina in the 38th minute. Olga Khonina scored the fourth goal in the 43rd minute as she easily put the ball past the goalkeeper taking the score to 4-0.

With the fourth quarter not yielding any more goals, the game ended with Kasakhstan registering their first win of the Hero FIH Hockey World League Round 2 (Women).

Speaking on the game Serik Kalimbayev, Coach, Kazakhstan said “Today we played with good technique and tactics. We tried not to leave any loopholes but we did a few mistakes and need to work on our penalty corners. We will try keeping the momentum going and keep scoring in the coming matches.”
