Intense training starts for Indian Women Hockey Team

New Delhi, March 2, 2015: Continuing their build up for the FIH Hockey World League Round 2, the Indian Women Team started with its practice on Monday and were seen sweating it out at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium here.

Placed in Pool A, for the league and all set to begin from 7 March 2015, the Indian eves looked focussed and were seen fine-tuning their skills in order to give a hard time to the opponents in their first clash against Ghana on the inaugural day.

The much gritty squad led by Ritu Rani is keen to bring in the required team coordination on field and in the process aim to take advantage of their strengths by incorporating all the tactics and strategies.

Speaking ahead of the practice session, Indian Women Hockey Team Captain Ritu Rani said, “We are excited on playing against Ghana in the opening match as it will be the first time that we will be playing against them. Our sole target is to perform well and get into Round 3 in order to get a step closer to qualify for the 2016 Rio Olympics. The team is confident with the recent victory against Germany and Spain in Valencia which has certainly motivated us to put up a great show in the league ahead.”

The matches of the FIH World League Round 2 (Women) will be telecast LIVE and exclusive on DD Sports and is scheduled to take place from 7-15 March 2015.
