Footballer Robin Singh celebrates Women’s day with Smile Foundation




Bangalore, March 07, 2014: Saluting the spirit of Indian women, India's ace footballer Robin Singh celebrated International Women’s Day with Smile Foundation.   Fifteen girls who came forward to make an identity of their own from a difficult background were part of this celebration at hotel Monarch Luxur.

Robin who was in town was enthralled to join the cause. Pledging his support toward the cause of women empowerment he said, “Women empowerment is all about enabling the female segment of society to understand their real worth and to enable them with the power of equality. 

I feel it is imperative for male involvement in development of this segment of women's rights. 

All these girls symbolize the spirit of "living your dream" if given the right platform and support. I wish them the very best and I hope they become a force to reckon with.”

All these girls were from Smile Twin e-Learning Programme (STeP) – Smile Foundation’s employability program for youth.  Youth are trained in STeP centres across India through a six month course to face the world professionally and then are placed also in reputed companies in service and retail sectors. All of them were excited to meet their football star.

Commenting on this occasion Mr. Vikram Singh Verma, COO Smile Foundation said, “Smile Foundation strongly believes that when you Empower a Women the whole generation is empowered. We have a long way to go in this direction and we can only achieve it by involving all section of the civil society.” He added, “I would like to thank Mr. Robin Singh who come forward and supported the cause. I believe that we all can inspire changes in our own way this Women’s Day.”
