Muzaffarpur win Hayman Cup

Patna, April 12, 2010: Muzaffarpur won the Hayman Cup senior division inter-district cricket tournament title defeating Katihar by ten wickets at the Sanjay Gandhi Stadium here on Monday.

Katihar won the toss and elected to bat first. Katihar made 190 runs in 32.1 overs. Nilesh Kumar (58, 9x4, 1x6), Arjun Yadav (21, 4x4) and Rama Shankar (37, 5x4, 2x6) excelled with the bat. Sarfaraz took three wickets.

Needing 191 runs for victory in 35 overs, Muzaffapur opening pair of Pawan and Vikash played blazing knocks and guided their side to thumping win. Pawan (88, 12x4,1x6) and Vikash Ranjan (79, 10x4) remained unbeaten.

Chief guests Vinod Kumar and Ajay Kumar Singh jointly distributed the prizes. AjayNarayan Sharma, secretary, Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) proposed a vote of thanks. Ravi Shankar Prasad Singh, treasurer, BCA and other office-bearers were present in the closing function. BCA convenor Mirtunjay Tiwari presided over the function.

Brief scores: Katihar: 190 all out in 32.1 overs (Nilesh Kumar-58, Arjun Yadav-21, Rama Shankar-37, Ranjan-2/26, Vikash-1/32, Fahad-1/34, Sarfaraz-3/37, Sanjay-1/20).

Muzaffarpur: 191 for no loss in 30.4 overs (Pawan-88 not out, Vikash Ranjan-79 not out).
